Each year, the EGR Summit gathers together luminaries from some of the biggest iGaming affiliates in the world. As well as being one of the most exclusive online gaming get-togethers, industry insiders consider it the best networking event on the calendar. As ever, BNBS’ Sue Dawson was flying the flag for FTD Digital!
This year’s event, which was held after the EGR Power 50 Summit, featured a pair of fascinating presentations. Of particular interest was a keynote speech by ICS-Digital’s, Martin Calvert who offered his thoughts on how affiliates can compete in international markets – especially those that are newly regulated – this is a topic that’s highly relevant to UK affiliates considering the looming regulatory changes.
For the second presentation, Peel Hunt’s Ivor Jones provided analysis and forecast on some of the trends that will affect the eGaming industry in the year ahead.
Underpinning these excellent presentations was a series of round table discussions. Some of the topics up for discussion included:
- affiliate/operator relationships
- industry regulation
- public perceptions of the industry
- expansion into international markets
Affiliate/Operator Roundtable
The affiliate/operator roundtable was hosted by Elaine Gardiner of Tag Media – this is a subject that’s very close to our hearts given how much we pride ourselves in forging excellent relationships with operators.
Industry Regulation
The regulatory roundtable was of course dominated by the impending UK Gambling Act white paper, with speculation about its proposed changes and when these might take effect.
Public Perceptions of the Industry
Public perceptions of the iGaming industry are not all that favourable at the moment. So discussions here centred round some of the ways in operators could change this.
Expansion into International Markets
For any company that wants to be successful, expansion and diversification is crucial, especially in the cut-throat world of online gambling. Suffice to say, we’ve got some very exciting plans that we can’t wait to announce. So watch this space!
After Party Meet-Ups
The summit concluded with drinks, a dinner and after-party at the wonderful Sea Grill. There, Sue Dawson met up with old friends and colleagues to talk shop. By all accounts, discussions went on until the wee small hours! So another highly successful EGR Power Summit then, once again providing us with a great opportunity to get together and discuss how we, as affiliates, can make a contribution to the industry’s future.
