Back in December I was delighted to be invited to appear on the Affilate BI podcast with John Wright of Statsdrone (whose rather wonderful product we use to keep track of all our affiliate accounts).

Although a large part of FTD Digital’s business these days is promoting slot sites and online casinos, our roots are in bingo (both WDW Bingo and Best New Bingo Sites were started as specialist bingo comparison sites more than a decade ago). With that comes a huge body of knowledge about the online bingo industry going back many years which I drew on for the podcast. John and I talked a lot about online bingo, how it’s changing and evolving as more and more players only use mobile devices, what that means for player acquisition and retention and in turn how that affects affiliates.
Another very interesting topic of conversation was SEO, and specifically whether affiliates should attend non industry specific SEO events such as Brighton SEO. John and I both attended this conference in October 2024 and in fact, the idea for this episode of the podcast (like so many other good ideas) was the result of a conversation we had when we ran into each other in the bar area there.
If you want to hear my views on the past, present and future of online bingo you’ll have to listen to the podcast, but on the question of whether affiliates and other gambling industry people should attend Brighton SEO and other such events, John and I both agree that absolutely they should! (And we’re not the only ones – I recognised several other attendees from the industry).
SEO is different for gambling sites, there’s no doubt about it, but there’s still a great deal of valuable insight to be had from hearing from SEO professionals with a more mainstream take on what’s happening. You just never know which presentation or conversation is going to give you that key takeaway.
And of course, if you do affiliate conferences AND Brighton SEO you will never need to buy T-shirts, socks, pens or notepads ever again – just go round the stands and pick up the swag…
Seriously though, I really enjoyed being on the podcast – a huge thank you to John for having me!
