In June 2026, Pragmatic Play announced they were shuttering their bingo product to focus on their slots and live casino games. This marked the end of the Pragmatic Play bingo era, after a generational run of success.
The product initially launched on Grace Media in 2019, before a period of expansion over the next half decade that saw it:
- Replace Jumpman Gaming’s in-house software
- Roll out on Broadway (Butlers) Bingo sites
- Get added to many of the most innovative independent casinos like Planet Sport Bet, Lottogo and Leo Vegas
- Replace the established bingo product on household name brands like Bet365 and Heart Bingo
- Anchor Bingo Britain, the biggest new bingo launch in years…
When put like that, it seems inconceivable that such a roaring success would just shut up shop. But the signs were there… which also points to the biggest beneficiary of the end of this era.
Many groups of sites had started to migrate away from Pragmatic Play to Playtech, often known as Virtue Fusion in the online bingo world. Heart Bingo, PlayOJO, and Dazzletag (Solaya) sites like Peachy Games had already started to migrate to Playtech.
Then Playtech rolled out a new plug-in, first seen on Progress Play casinos, that saw Playtech catch up with and eventually overtake Pragmatic Play.
Playtech also look to be the main beneficiary of this official closure, as more of those sites migrate over. There will likely be more big announcements on this coming soon.
Perhaps the most disappointing outcome is many of these independent casino sites have decided to just ditch bingo entirely. We hope they take the leap and get more bingo going forward.
Pragmatic Play had a lot going for its bingo product; it was comparatively cheap and easy for operators to plug in to their brands. But as a product, it never really was as good as Playtech. And we have firmly entered the Playtech era. The King is dead, long live the King!
